13 weeks pregnant, and having pains and cramps.?

This is my 2nd pregnancy, first one a year ago ended in miscarriage at 6 weeks. I will now be 13 weeks in 2 days,so I pray this one goes well!! I am concerned though. I woke up yesterday morn with sharp stabbing pains in my left side that was off and on all day. Now today they have stopped but my whole stomach just feels achy and my sides, nothing too bad, besides off and on i will get a sharp cramp on the upper part of my stomach(2-3 inches above my belly button) that comes and go....are these cramps normal and what could they be? Thanks !

First of all I am so sorry to hear about the miscarriage. That has got to be so hard.

I had a lot of aches and pains around my stomach when I was pregnant too... going in to the doctor, they said that It was just my stomach stretching out and making room for the baby. They usually say it's nothing to worry about if there is no bleeding and you are not having any contractions. The biggest thing is try not to stress about it. Stress can make things worse and your body can do really crazy things.

Do you know what caused the miscarriage in the first place? There might be something else going on and you probably should make an appointment with your doctor to be sure that everything is okay. It's better to be safe than sorry.

    Good luck!!!

If you start having heavy abdominal cramps and bleeding, go to your ob/gyn asap. Those are the signs of an early term miscarriage. Other than that, don't stress too much, eat healthy meals, take all of your vitamins and don't physically overly exert yourself.
