How can I get a confidence boost? How can I sing?

Singing seems so fun and when I watch musicals with my friends at sleepovers, they all sing along. But I never do because I can't! Not because I'm terrible at it, I just can't seemed to. I feel awkward. I can sing in choirs though...

Even when I'm home alone, I can't manage to sing. Well, I can hum but not sing, it feels weird and awkward when I sing WORDS out and I'm not confident. I'm really shy.. Whats a good song I can sing to? And how can I start singing? My violin told me I should after she told me to hum out a tune of a song I'm playing.....

Help me please... Hehe... ^o^

Sometimes putting on headphones and closing your eyes helps you to forget people are around. Also if you close your door and sit in your bed with the blankets over you that can help you forget your surroundings(this is not an ideal position to sing in however). Do this for a while and then maybe record yourself and practice to perfection then hopefully you will have the confidence you need to be able to sing among your peers with out feeling self-conscious.

Hope this helps and best of luck finding that confidence!

Source(s): I sing and do theatre and such so sometimes I feel really pathetic out of nowhere.
