Is disapitate a word?

Is disapitate a word? Spell-checkers and online dictionaries seem to think otherwise but i've seen it used commonly. Is there a reason?

    No http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/disapitate+

Maybe if you explain the meaning, you can choose the one you want from that list, but I think you've spelt it incorrectly

    Do you mean dissipate?

Are you spelling the word correctly?

What is the meaning of the word you use or what context do you use it in? Then I could figure out if the word exists or not.

No. A look in Google (see http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=%2B%22disapitate%... ) shows from context that people mean "dissipate" (see http://www.thefreedictionary.com/dissipate ).

You're probably thinking of "dissipate". You've just spelled it wrong, is all.
