Getting a macbook eventually, what model do you think I should get?
I just need a basic computer, so I already know I'm going with the plain white macbook - apple's most basic model from what I understand. The trouble is that I don't know what upgrades I should make on it in terms of memory and hard drive space and everything. It comes stocked with 2G of RAM and a 260G hard drive, so would that be enough for basic use? My biggest concern is with the memory - I just don't want a slow computer, and having a lot of memory would fix that. Then again I only need it for basic functions (word processing, internet and email, etc) so would 2G of memory be enough? Thanks.

Macs are reliable, and great for multimedia projects. For what your saying word processing, and email the macbook with 2gb ram should do you great. When you get deep into multimedia projects like music production, video proudction, graphic designing, keynotes, etc then you want at least 4GB ram. From what your doing the iPad would do you good with iWork, Internet and email as it has the best exprience. Check out http://www.clamcase.com/ to make it into a laptop. The MacBook is more powerful then the iPad but if your on a tight budget the iPad would be the way to go.
I am a web designer, graphic designer, and I fix computers and Macs are best for that kind of work, college/school, and/or if you need something reliable.

Get the Mac with the most memory, RAM and ROM, and the most storage memory. I've got a MacBook Pro 17 inch screen and love it. Don't make the mistake of going for anything less than 15" screen. I'd also recommend Snow Leopard.

2GB of memory is ok. But if you are going to do Photo Editing or Movie Editing or using Logic it is not. If you think you need the memory then go for it.However do not buy RAM from apple. It costs $100. Go to Crucial.com or Best Buy to get RAM.

None of them if you're smart! They are over priced, over rated, and NOT compatible with most software on the market. They have to be modified to be compatible with anything. Why spend a fortune on a computer that doesnt run anything unless modifed when you can buy a PC for half the price that IS compatible?
