  • Macroeconomics - how to calculate current account balance.?

It gives me the following information.

    Consumption function: C = 100 + .8Yd

    Planned investment: I= 39

    Govt spending: G = 75

    Exports = 25

    Imports = .05Yd

    Disposable income: Yd = Y-T

    Taxes: T=40

Planned Aggregate Expenditure: AE = C+I+G+EX-IM

I'm lost on how to calculate the current account balance from this information, and no place I've looked (not even the textbook) can explain it. Thanks, everyone.

  • Is there such thing as a general symbol for education?

More specifically, other fields have a symbol. Psychology has the psi fork, theater has those drama mask things, but I can't seem to find one for education as a field. It's for a tattoo. Thanks, guys.

  • Does apple buy your old MacBook?

Hi guys. Right now, I have a macbook white, the most recent generation. I've had it for about a year. I'm going off to grad school next year and would like to upgrade to a macbook pro 13. I figure it's just as portable as my current mac, but more powerful (and more storage space for the countless pages of writing I'll have to do over the next 4-6 years). My question is, could I sell back my macbook to the Apple store and use some kind of store credit towards an upgrade to the pro "13? I think my friend did something like this when we were still freshmen in college, but I don't know what apple's current policies are. Thanks!

  • What is the best way to sell a PC that I never use?

Hi, all. I have a massive PC laptop that my aunt got for me about two years ago after she broke my macbook. It's a beastly, 18.4 inch widescreen Toshiba P-500 (or something like that). Anyway, I got my macbook fixed and now I've had this giant PC sitting around getting in the way. It's basically a brand new computer so I'd hate to throw it out, or use it for target practice, or whatever, so what's the best way I can sell it? Thanks.

  • Operations analysis help?

The sheriff’s department schedules police officers for 8 hour shifts. The beginning times for the shifts are 8:00 a.m., noon, 4:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m., midnight, and 4:00 a.m. An officer beginning a shift at one of these times works for the next 8 hours. During normal weekday operations, the number of officers needed varies depending on the time of day. The department staffing guidelines require the following minimum number of officers on duty:

Time of day Minimum Officers on Duty

    8:00 a.m. – noon 5

    Noon – 4:00 p.m. 7

    4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. 10

    8:00 p.m. – midnight 8

    Midnight – 4:00 a.m. 4

    4:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. 6

Determine the number of police officers that should be scheduled to begin the 8 hour shifts at each of the six times to minimize the total number of officers required. Are there any surpluses? If so, during which shifts?

I just need help finding the constraints on this. I can't seem to work through this one in my head. Thanks.

  • Guys (or girls), what's the best way to remove chest hair?

I'd rather not shave because I have sensitive skin and razor burn = ouch, so are there any other methods that would work well? I lost a bet to my girlfriend, and now I have to get rid of my chest hair...long story. No laser hair removal, either. Too pricey.

  • Is it possible to return an online purchase from Apple to an Apple store?

I recently got a macbook and the case I ordered for it offline doesn't fit and I'd rather not go through the process of shipping it back to wherever it came from since I got it online, so is it possible to return the case to an Apple store even though I bought it online? Thanks.

  • Do Macbooks have some sort of word processor on them?

I just got a new macbook in the mail today, but the Microsoft Office software I need won't come until the end of the week. The problem is that I need to start typing something today, so is there anywhere on my mac I can just start typing, and then I'll reformat it to Word when the software comes in the mail? On a PC, the kind of thing I'm looking for would be called "wordpad," which comes pre-installed on all PCs (to my knowledge) and is free. I'm new to the mac world, so bear that in mind when you answer. Thanks, everyone.

  • Getting a macbook eventually, what model do you think I should get?

I just need a basic computer, so I already know I'm going with the plain white macbook - apple's most basic model from what I understand. The trouble is that I don't know what upgrades I should make on it in terms of memory and hard drive space and everything. It comes stocked with 2G of RAM and a 260G hard drive, so would that be enough for basic use? My biggest concern is with the memory - I just don't want a slow computer, and having a lot of memory would fix that. Then again I only need it for basic functions (word processing, internet and email, etc) so would 2G of memory be enough? Thanks.

  • How difficult is it to transfer programs from a PC to a Mac?

I have a PC now but I'm considering purchasing a Mac as my next computer. However, I have a lot of programs on my PC right now that I would need to be able to transfer to my new computer and still have them work -- if it were PC to PC, it wouldn't be a problem, but I'm not sure how this would work considering it's PC to Mac. Any suggestions? The programs I need to transfer would be Maple (a mathematics program that I use regularly at college), Minitab (another math program) the Microsoft office suite, and a few others. Obviously iTunes isn't going to be a problem. If I can't transfer these files then I definitely can't get a Mac because buying all new programs would just be too expensive. Thanks.

  • Question on history/systems of psychology on evolution?

The question is, "given the fact that rudimentary theories of evolution go back at least as far as the early Greeks, why did it take until the 19th century for adequate theories of evolution to develop?"

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I finished the rest of it, but I'm stumped on this one.

    Thanks.

  • Statistics question on combinations?

Assume that 13% of people are left-handed, and suppose that we select 20 people at random. Find the probability that...

    a) the first lefty is the first person chosen

    b) There are exactly 5 lefties in a group

    c) the first lefty is the second or third person chosen

    d) there are at least 3 lefties in the group

    e) we must test at least 3 poeple in order to find the first lefty

These have to do with geometric vs. binomial distributions, and I'm lost...

    Thanks.

You are dealt a hand of 3 cars one at a time (without replacement) from a standard deck of 52 cards. Find the probability that at least one of the cards is a heart.

    Thanks.
