What medications can be used as an alternative to modafinil (Provigil/Nuvigil)?
My insurance company is being a pain about covering this medication. I work third shift and rotate shifts occasionally, and I have a great deal of difficulty sleeping during the day. I got my doctor to prescribe it under the diagnosis "shift-work sleep disorder" but now my insurance won't cover it. I'm already prescribed Adderall for ADD and was thinking about asking for some IR tablets to supplement my XR, in case the modafinil won't be covered. Any other alternatives anyone can think of?

Modafinil can be prescribed off label for ADD, but since off label, the insurance company probably will not like it.
Better idea - If you have a prescription, you can get it from overseas for less than $3 a tab, like $1- $2- very affordable.
Do some google searches. I know many people who do this, no issues. You will not need to give them the script, just carry it with you in case someone else wants to see it.
200mg tabs are priced best, but maintenance dosages are 50-100mg.
