Relocating to Tennessee. Chattanooga vs. Knoxville. Help?

I need people to give their honest and full opinion on why I should move to either Chattanooga or Knoxville. I need a sort of pros and cons answer. Like, what is bad and good about both city.

Just reading the cities relocation mags aren't helpful. I need the citizen's point of view. Every town has its good and bad points. Can you tell me which city is better and why?

From someone that has ties to and knows a lot about both cities I can easily say Chattanooga would be the better choice.

Every thing Knoxville has Chattanooga has. There are many things Chattanooga has that Knoxville does NOT have.

Knoxville has the label as a "major city" but when you compare it to Chattanooga, Chatt is strongly outpacing Knox in all aspects.. Population and workforce being the biggest reason. Also, I can easily say when Chattanooga lands this speed train from Atlanta, growth in the city will absolutely be unprecedented.

So if you're looking for more of a city life, with things to do, jobs, new developments, active downtown, etc., Chatt is the way to go. Knox in the past was a lot more city like than Chatt was, but now Chatt is VERY similar to Knox, and as I said earlier, is outpacing Knox.

And last but not least, what you see from I-24 is NOT all of Chattanooga. The City of Chattanooga goes for about 7 miles north on Hwy. 27, all the way to the Hwy. 27/Hwy. 153 interchange in the Hixson area, and 2.6 miles north of the Ooltewah/Collegedale exit(Exit # 11.), and the city spreads over a larger area than just on major surface highways.

Source(s): City population.. Chattanooga: 175,000 estimated and growth is at or above 10% every year. Knoxville: 183,000 estimated and growth is low. (Fact: Per each year, 800 to 1,000 more people relocate to Chattanooga than Knoxville. After we land this speed train it will average 1,200 to 1,400 more people.) City size.. Chattanooga: 143 sq. miles. Knoxville: 90 sq. miles.

Both cities are growing. While Chattanooga may be adding a little more city residents, Knoxville is adding more suburban residents. A drive through both cities will be in Knoxville advantage. Knoxville has more of a skyline with taller buildings, and development alone I-40 and -75 is more noticeable than Chattanooga. Knoxville by far is a college town, while Chattanooga is more a tourist town. Chattanooga may also be more multiracial than Knoxville, which is helping it's growth.
