Any help is greatly appreciated! I got a tattoo in October of 2009. When I was getting the tattoo, I bled?
more than the average person, but thought nothing of it. I did end up getting a tattoo infection, and I took antibiotics for that. Since then, I have had nothing but problems. I started losing weight, so I went to my doctor, he checked me for all the diseases associated with tattoos, but I didn't have any. However, I have had a problem with my red blood cells ever since I got the tattoo. My red blood cell count and my hematocrit levels were off the charts. I had to have blood removed a few times. I am still losing weight, and my red blood cells are too big. Does anyone have any information that can help me here. Is this problem associated with the tattoo infection? And how can I fix it? Thank you.

This sounds like pernicious anemia or hemachromatosis, or polycythemia vera. None of these diseases would have been caused by your tattoo. The symptoms you describe are not congruent with any diseases that can be contracted due to tattooing. Are we trying to pin something on the tattooist? Sounds like someone's looking for someone to sue.

I had an infection after I was tattooed on my wrist, of which I used antiseptic cream and antibiotics to clear up. I have had no after effects like this though.
If you have been screened for all blood diseases such as Hepatitis and HiV, I can only suggest you speak to your doctor about it being other possibilities not directly related to the inks or the way you were tattooed. That some sort of outside influence like your lifestyle or diet could have been the cause.
You could even have been carrying a dormant issue and the infection triggered it into activity, there are so many reasons I can't begin to go into them.
If your doctor is failing to find a cause by now, almost a year after the 'start', can I suggest you find a different doctor?
