How can I get people to stop looking at me like I'm crazy?
My son is 3 years old with a mentality of just over a one year old. Almost every time we go to the store, pharmacy, mall, ect, he is asked " How old are you?", and " What is your name?". I know these are normal questions for a child his age so I simply answer for him and tell him he doesn't talk. However, when I do this people look at me like I'm crazy. He has medical problems but he looks "normal". Why do a lot of people not understand you don't have to look "special" to be handicapped mentally.

There Ignorant.Just tell people the name of the illness he's got or" He can't speak,he has ______" because If you just say "He doesn't talk" They'll think that you abused him or something. Some bad parents would beat up their kid over stuff they say.example: The kid will openly say "Are we gonna eat something today?" or anything in that category that might embarrass the parent.
