SEASON OF THE LUNATIC
by C.S. Scotkin
The Moon is full…
I need to scream
and not to dream
of losses great
or wicked fate…
The Season of the Lunatic is here.
there is nothing more for me to fear,
and nothing more to lose…
In the oaks there cries an owl.
Head thrown back, why can’t I howl?
Be transformed for this one night,
perhaps then, I will be alright.
The Season of the Lunatic is here.

It has been a Season of the Lunatic for us and for our loved ones, but what can you expect in a world gone insane? You express the lunacy well.

My, my - are you having a bad time? I do hope not.
This seems much more spontaneous than I feel you normally write...but, this suits the subject.
One line worried me slightly....'Head thrown back', even though separated from 'cries an owl' by a full-stop/period - my mind placed the two together (as if the owl's head was thrown back, I mean)
Why can't I throw back my head and..
Howl?
the single word is then an explosion of exasperation/despair/rage - whatever.
And how about making this two verses? With the unrhymed lines as the last line of each verse
......more to lose
........Lunatic is here
(I don't want much do I?)
Actually, no I don't feel like this....well, not lately any way.

Howling helps when the throat has been coated with the fire of liquid dreams. Unfortunately the head responds with pounding drums the next day! Perhaps take solace in the fact that you wanted too, as you are able to the next day, remember the good things without the drums!

I haven't felt this way CS (yet). Plenty of time to experience this, I hope. Great visuals in this piece and I liked the uneven length of lines and the slight variation pattern with the rhyming in places. Is there a name for this style?

No Wolf am I, when the moon is high
although I do feel sick.
A Flea is what becomes of me
(A kind of Lunar Tick?)

(sigh) To throw my head back and howl.... I miss high school. Seriously though, we've all been there CS. Great write.
