Walking in New Orleans at night?

I plan on going to a Hornets game this season, and I'll be staying at the Wyndham on Baronne St. I intend to walk to the game. The distance doesn't bother me at all, but I'm concerned about walking through the wrong area after the game. Should I be okay, and is there a specific route I should take or avoid?

I have been to New Orleans 4 times, and I can assure you that you most likely will not encounter any bad neighborhoods walking to or from the game. New Orleans Arena is located next to the superdome in Downtown New Orleans. The Wyndham Garden Hotel is also located in the Downtown area, and is located approximately a half a mile from the arena, and you can walk all the way in a safe, well lit area. However, if you are planning on going drinking on bourbon street at night, stick to the more crowded/well lit streets while walking to and from the bars.

    Enjoy!
