how long is steak in marinade good for?

We had plans to have friends over tonight, so we put our steaks in a marinade last night (we usually don't marinade, just season & grill) planning on making them tonight, now we have postponed our dinner til tomorrow night, the steaks have been refrigerated the whole time, will they both be okay to eat, and taste ok? They're really nice steaks, we would rather not have to cook them off tonight to use for stir-fry or something. Anyone had 48-hr marinated steaks???

I generally marinate steaks 1 -3 days, depending on tough they are. Your steaks will be fine.

It depends on when you bought the steaks. Steaks stay good in the fridge for I think 3-5 days depending on how they are wrapped. So if you bought the steaks the day you started marinating, they will still be good. Just keep it covered well.

Well what are you marinating them in? And what cut of steak is it? That will make a difference. The better cut of steak doesn't really need marinating so maybe drain them and dry with paper towels and just keep in a zip lock till then. If is is a cheaper cut like chuck even sirloin they will be ok to marinate that long..

No not more than 24 hours, It would start to break down the steaks and it will make them tough, I don't recommend it!

They will taste even better and probably even more tender.
