When muslims pray, they make a gesture with their hands towards their face. What is the meaning of this?

Update:

Thank you all for answering so quickly. So if I understand correctly, the bowl shape you make is like the folding of the hands of a christian and the gesture with the hands towards the face is like the cross that christians make on their face and chest?

Does this last gesture touch anything specific in the face?

no no, u r taking it wrong...we make a gesture with hands towards face because if you closely see, it represents that we are asking God for something...like if you ask some one for anything to eat or drink, you will raise your hands towards him...in the same way, our Prophet(SAW) has told us to ask God for our wishes in the same way...this gesture just denotes that we are asking God for help or any other thing...and in the end, we rub(sort of) our hands on our face...that's just the way our Prophet (SAW) told us...nothing in this gesture matches or came from christians...

We don't touch anything specific on the face...infact we touch our full face with our hands showing a completion of Dua (prayer) and also showing that we are happy with our Lord Allah

    Hands On Face

this gesture doesn't involve touching the face, they just raise it in the air. But at the end of their prayers, some wipe their hands on their face...

and yeah, when a Muslim does this gesture, it means he/she is praying and asking humbly things from God

Christians hold there hands together when they are against their bed at night and praying.. Hindu's shut them together.. Muslims make a bowl like thing out of their hands meaning they ask Allah for what they want..

    The meaning is prayer.

Christians cross there heart, and also put there hands together.

Muslims make a bowl shaped with our hands so that we see our palm and make dua (prayer).

One reason why Muslims make a type of bowl with their hands is because when we make dua (asking for things) its supposed to be as if your begging, so you raise your hands out.
