I am running 5 miles in under an hour and need tips?
I am running 5 miles for my soccer team, and the most I've ever run is 1.5 miles. Does anyone have any tips. I run in about 6 hours.

If you play soccer, I assume you must be pretty fit.
5 miles is a long way, if you haven't really run before, but if you're fit it should be doable. Not much advice I can give you if you're doing it in an hour but remember to pace yourself. Start a bit slower than normal - you can always speed up at about 3-4 miles in. This will help prevent you from burning out quickly. And remember to breathe!
I'd have a banana about now and drink some water to make sure you're well hydrated.
Good luck.

You shouldn't really go from running only 1.5 miles to 5 miles like that but I guess you have no choice. I run around 50+ miles per week and love doing the 5 mile races. Here are some tips I use:
-Don't go out too fast in the first couple miles, you may want to seem cool and fast, but you should keep a constant pace during the whole run.
-Stretch alot before the run, it really makes a difference.
- Remember to keep your strides long, it takes alot of time off overall.
-Think postive thoughts during the run
-Count your step as you run. You can control your pace this way.
How this helps! :)

even if you haven't been running much i'm sure you can do this! 5 miles an hour is 12 minutes a mile which is slow if your an active runner, bring a watch to keep track of the time, and try to run your first mile in about 9 minutes, then the 2nd and 3rd in 11 minutes, then your last two in 10 minutes. that shouldn't seem to hard, GOOD LUCK!! :)

To go from 1.5 miles to 5 miles is going to tax your body, you should normally build upto that mileage.
My best advice is to pace yourself, start out slowly, get your breathing in chk to a comfortable level where you can carry a conversation. Hydrate well all day long and keep your dinner light to avoid a stitch.
But I expect you to be sore tomorrow so go for a hot bath tonight to relax the muscles.
Good lucK!

Pace yourself.. Take it really easy.. Then if your cuttig it close last mile you can pick it up and still have energy. Hydrate alot night before..
