What are options for growing "Dwarf" fruit trees in central NC?
I have a dwarf lemon tree and a dwarf orange tree. I got these last year. During the winter I put them in an outside building, I thought they had died. I put them out this past Spring and they have been in direct sun . The trees are now about two feet tall. Can these be planted outside? I live in Concord, NC.

Concord, NC lies in Zone 7b. Most fruit trees will grow well in your area, with the exception of a few cold-hardy ones (some apples/currents/etc) and some tropical ones (citrus/bananas/etc). While we wouldn't recommend planting your lemon & orange trees outside, you could pot them outside and bring them indoors when the weather drops below 60 degrees (citrus trees will go dormant at 50 degrees). If you keep them in a temperature above 60 degrees, you should have fruit nearly all year round!
