95 Eagle Talon: Neutral safety switch questions?

I've been having problems with the car cutting off while driving or idle just like I turned the key to off. Often wont start for awhile. Everything I checked is ok but seems like the computer is what's turning the car off. Like a bad sensor or something. Anyways the car went from this to not even trying to start. Now I'm getting angry with it. Everything checked out fine until as a last resort I disabled the neutral safety switch and the car fires right up and hasn't stalled since yesterday. Was stalling every quarter mile up to this point.

So my main questions are..

If the switch is shorted out would this cause a car to stall like a shaft sensor would?

Is this switch an input to the computer so if shorting out would it cause computer problems?

I basically want to know if this switch could lead to computer shut offs?

I've Googled this topic but mostly only find people saying they can't start their car but one mechanic told a person having the same problems as me with stalls that the NSS can cause stalls and acts as an input to the computer and shuts down because you are in gear. I'm pretty positive it only stalled in gear, rarely in neutral. So basically is it confusing the computer somehow and causing this? I'm impressed how long I drove around today without a stall testing it but wouldn't be shocked if it shuts down tomorrow.

But does the circuit of the safety switch go through the computer at any point or directly to the relay/ignition?

I did a ton of Googling and some say that this switch if shorting out can cause stalls but totally confused about whether it goes through the computer or just to the solenoid on starter. Some cars do and some don't. Very little info about this and especially for this make and model. Either way I'm glad I got this far working on it and not only neat to start the car without the clutch in which is bad for the throwout bearing and shaft leading to crankwalk, I'm happy as hell I can walk out and start the thing and runs good. I'm just afraid there's another electrical problem hiding in there waiting.

Update 3:

Yeah I read more into the switch and some cars seem to go to the computer but it looks like this switch only goes to the starter solenoid.

I went and bought a multimeter today and tested some things. When it stalled again and wouldn't start I tested the connector that goes to the coil and only throwing 0.07v in this mode. I swapped MFI relay with another and ran awhile, stalled, and the same reading. I went ahead and ordered the camshaft sensor.

    To answer all your questions, no, no, no and no. The neutral safety switch's only purpose is to interrupt current from activating the starter if the clutch is disengaged. I had mine disabled years ago, without any problems. It's just a plastic switch designed to break and leave you stranded. One more way for the dealers to "analyze" your problem and replace a bunch of other things and rip you off.

  • the neutral safety switch should only disable the starting system. i dont see how your bypassing would resolve that issue but apparently it did. if it aint broke dont fix it. if you find a solution to a problem regardless of how strange, then good.

    Is it a stick or computerized The stick is via the snatch petal the computerized is under the shifter pad. an some automobiles it via the brake petal put in independent the motor vehicle will commence on an computerized
