Are songs addictive ?

I heard many times that songs may become addictive ! the music, the singer's voice or even the chorus may lead to some kind of addiction !

Is it true or this is some kind of myth ?

well all i can say is it depends how much you love music.

i listen to music probably over 10 hours a day so you could say im addicted but i thought addictions were only things that aren't good? i love music, one of the few things that make me genuinly happy xD

edit : @ the person below me. in what way is some music harmfull? that makes no sense.

Yes. Music is addicting. It is one of a million forms of entertainment.

See it this way, when you play a video game and you do really well, let's say you complete the level or win the match, this brings you happiness, joy, excitement and what's more; addiction! All these emotions are formed from a simple chemical release writhing your brain called Dopamine.

This chemical release is the same release caused when taking a drug, yes I'm serious. This means when you accomplish such a thing like watching a tv show, reading a book, or acing your school test, all this have the same effect of which drugs do.

And this is the same with music, when you listen to music you love, (weather you enjoy it or not is linked to common memory or present emotions) your brain releases the chemical dopamine. So yes, when you listen to music you do in fact fell the same as if you were high. Scary yes, however as you listen to more music you tend to get bored of it because you are getting immune. Answer: YES :)
