Blocking Someone on Facebook?

Blocking is confidential, which means that users are not notified when they are blocked and people cannot distinguish between someone that blocked them and someone that deleted his own account.

However, if the blocked person can see that your profile is still visible from one of your friend's account or by people who are not Facebook users, it will be easy for this person to deduce that you didn't delete your account, and that therefore he, or she, was blocked by you.

As for seeing this person inside Facebook, once you block someone this person can no longer be your friend, interact, or communicate with you in any way, except within applications and games you both use. This means that you won't see him in your suggestions box.

All the connections with your dad on facebook will be removed but he wont know that he is blocked, he will not show up on ur suggestion box, it will be hidden from him ( although you can just do this using the privacy option) and he will not be notified, however i suggest you just block him from your status updates and photos you upload using the privacy option in your settings

Basically you want to click on your Account link on the right hand side and go to privacy settings and click on it. Once your on Privacy Settings, go down to the bottom where it says customize settings with the little pencil. Make sure that all the tabs are FRIENDS ONLY. This block your wall posts with your friends, information on your wall, and etc.

To block user go to the bottom of the privacy page and click on Block Lists. Then input their name.

To stop people that are not friends to send you messages- go to Privacy Settings and click on VIEW SETTINGS under the paragraph Basic Directory Information and make sure that all of the tabs say Friends Only or customize to Only Me.

Yes if you block your dad his profile shouldn't show up on your friends list. If he says what happened to you on fb say something nicer without hurting his feelings you can just say you deleted your account and he won't know that you are on it.

It will not notify him, He wont be able to add you or message you but if you comment on one of your mutual friends' posts, photos, ect. then he will see your name. otherwise it's hidden.
