Is this true for anyone else?

I have a Vietnamese background. What I've noticed is that people usually don't move out of home unless they're "married off". That's how I saw my aunts and uncles (Dad's side) move out of home. They all used to live with my grandparents and one-by-one slowly moved out. One of my aunts' did not move out of home until she was married at 27 years of age..

Some people don't really see it as a problem, but others don't understand when I explain why I haven't moved out yet (I'm 19)

Does this happen in anyone else's family?

yes sir that's normal right there. I'm 19 too and I'm not trying to move out soon, I'm still in school and my 100% income is from my parents. I'll still live with my parents even I graduate from college with a job. Then if i have ENOUGH money, depending on the economy, I'll finally move out to start my own life.

I think that's what people mostly do.

Yeah I think thats what usually happens, or at least they have a job and they're able to support themselves. I think you're still pretty young to move out of the house, but I know a lot of people try to get out so yeah, its common. Not that it's wrong or illegal to live at home for life too.
