Due to this "Community Center" uproar, can we finally get Liberals to say something good about the US?

I'm with you. Americans have free speech, so they can voice their opposition. Americans have religious freedom, so the freedom to build a mosque, a reading room or a Baptist Church in that same location is protected by the constitution.

But I would have told you that a year ago.

These freedoms can be used to intentionally and with malice hurt Americans. Sort of like the prisoners do with religion so they can be entitled to special perks if they cry it's for religious reasons and you know and I know it has nothing to do with religion.

I don't see everyone crying "Freedom of speech" whenever some public figure makes a racist remark and loses his or her job.

I don't know anything about the majority of Muslim theocracies and I really don't care. All I know is that kids aren't allowed to pray in schools anymore but Muslims can put a mosque up, a stone's throw away from where thousands of people were killed due to Muslim extremists? If we're not careful our freedoms can and will be used against us and weaken us as a nation. Let them build their mosque somewhere else in New York. They're intentionally trying to inflame people.

Actually Turkey is probably more secular than the United States. Egypt, Syria and Jordan all have large Christian minorities(about 10% each) that are guaranteed a certain number of seats in parliament. Lebanon with a slight Muslim majority is probably the most religiously diverse country in the world.

And yes, freedom of religion is what makes America great among other things and conservatives are trying to destroy it. You make a good point. Liberals are the group upholding one of our most sacred values in the face of knee jerk xenophobia.

Muslim theocracies around the world are not really Muslim countries in practice, but only in name. Muslims are able to be better Muslims in America, and Muslims do not hate America for its freedoms, but its governments actions in the Middle East. I hope you understand the difference. America is closer to being a true Muslim country than any Muslim theocracy that exists today.

I think America is still one of the greatest countries on Earth, despite conservatives' attempts to turn into a theocracy like those majority Muslim countries.

I have many good things to say about America (and about the world in general). Not the same can be said for the people who live in it.
