Is a stock AM2 Heatsink compatible with 754 mobos?
Well, I feel like I should know this...but anyway.
I have my old headsink that came with the retail version of the Athlon X2 (AM2). I'm thinking of trading a guy for an older 754 board (wanting to build a small system for my young daughter)...but yeah, I'm clueless here. An answer would be appreciated. tia.
Also, since I'm here. Does anyone know if the old 754 Turion 64s can be placed in ANY 754 mobo? Wanting to pick up a cheap cpu if I do get the motherboard. I've read around on the net, and while it seems like people have used Turions in desktop mobos, curious if there are exceptions.
Again, thanks.

most likely it should be fine. its the reverse that doesnt work because the reverse is huge heatsinks that dont fit
just make sure it comes in contact, if you have to take it off and check to see that the thermal grease spread well then do that. you should however have an extra pin slot from the Am2 heatsink and that is for mobo fan regulation so its not important and should still fit fine in the 3 pin
i have heard of some people using laptop processors but without a picture i wouldnt know laptop procs arent covered like desktop processors at least back then so i wouldnt risk it
