Flying dog from Hawaii to mainland, in carry-on?

Does anyone have experience with any airlines letting them fly a dog in carry-on to the mainland from the Honolulu international airport? I am moving back to be with my family and I have 2 small dogs - one is just barely under the size limit with his carrying case, but the other is chihuahua size. I am willing to do all I can to get them back safely.

If anyone has any info on what airline would be best (for example, American Airlines won't allow carry-on pets to or from Hawaii..so they're out of question), and actually allows this... please please let me know!

Mahalo!

Ah wahine, this could be tough, I suggest you call Hawaiian Airlines, cause they know more bout this than any other airlines, they local, and handle this all time. Here is thing, I know is ok for one dog, not sure bout 2, but only if they are small enough. Also, so many people mean and angry now days, they don't want travel with someone else's dog, yeah? Also, small number people have true allergies, so, dogs may have to ride in special area of plane, still climate controlled, in carrier, so you talk to customer service, Hawaiian Air, they know what to do for you, your dogs, ok? Even if Hawaiian not serve you destination, they still know what to do.

Peace to you and your family, wahine, and good luck.

You need to call the airlines back, or at least any airport you change planes at because health requirements differ from state to state and airport to airport. Call the vet and let him know any requirements you have been told and then schedule the appointment. Usually your puppy will need to be current on shots, parasite free (no fleas and no worms) and just all around healthy enough for travel. Don't be in a hurry to get in and out of the vets office. It usually takes a while. There is a lot of paperwork involved but it is worth it so you have no problems in the airport. Just please make sure your dog isn' t a "yipper". I have flown on 2 hr flights where the small dogs barked the whole trip and made everyone VERY angry. Just a warning!
