Is walking for 60min just as good as running for 30min for weight loss?

I hate running, but I still want to get healthy and do some exercise. I know that running is an excellent cardio exercise, but I absolutely hate it. Can I get away with power walking for twice as long (and about the same distance) instead?

(I know the other components needed for weight loss, like eating right and weight training - this question is strictly about running vs. walking)

    The reason running is better than walking is because it raises your heart rate which is what helps you burn calories becaase your body is working harder and is therefore using more calories.

    Running is better then walking, walking is better then doing nothing at all.
