2012..... what do you think?

If any kind of planetary alignment happened, it wouldn't have the slightest effect on us. If all the planets were simultaneously in a straight line and at their nearest to us, it would raise ocean tides by the width of a human hair. In any case, the positions of planets can be predicted with great accuracy and there won't be any alignment in 2012.

If someone claimed to come from the future, he's either mentally ill or a hoaxer because what he says is not possible.

Nothing will happen in 2012 because the whole thing is the work of new-age loonies with their 'ancient predictions' and 'signs' and 'visions' whilst under the influence of drugs. Not a scrap of it has any scientific backing. Don't waste your time over it.

People have thought the world was about to end as long as people were smart enough to worry themselves about it, and it hasn't happened yet.

You aren't using the word theory correctly - a theory is a scientific explanation that has so much evidence to back it, that it is probably correct in most respects. So. . . the earth goes around the sun, matter is made up of molecules, thermodynamics, plate tectonics are all theories. People mis-use the word theory all the time to dismiss evolutionary theory "it's only an theory." Yep, and your microwave oven is operating based on theory, as is your car's internal combustion engine, which required thermodynamics to develop, I'm sure, as did refrigerators and air conditioners. An educated guess is called a hypothesis. In the case of this caller, it wasn't even an educated guess - he was kidding or had problems.

If aliens are going to come to earth, how would this caller know this? Divine knowledge? Well, then that is religion, and you can decide if he is a prophet. Aliens are the new cool way to explain things, when people don't want to say that God did it. and sure don't want to bother to figure out the science behind stuff.

Another mistake people make is to think that present times are unique - people haven't changed, that's why Greek plays from 100 BC and Shakespeare are still good entertainment. If you study geology, you will see that present day natural disasters are not worse on average than they were in the past - but more people live in earthquake and flood areas than ever before, so more die.

Look at the book Can America Survive By John Hagee it combines some theology with Current World events. There are some country's experimenting with Nuclear weapons that could alter the world power balance. Like Iran so the next few years are going to be interesting. read and listen to everything you decide. Oil and its power are coming to a end in the next 50 years so something has got to happen. Outside of that God knows and he is not saying.

No I don't think anything will happen. But I KNOW that my son is very worried about this because his friends father told him the world will end in 2012. I think that adults need to smarten up and stop terrorizing children and others who can't process stuff logically. I think that there will be mentally ill people who do crazy things (like murder and suicide) because of this theory.

When I was a kid (1970's) I don't remember what it was but the world was supposed to end. This cause a lot of worry with my friends and caused me a lot of stress and loss of sleep.

So were all still here, right.

time/space-travel interests almost everybody but the funniest thing is that time is a dimension that was invented for us - humans, as we couldn't understand it for an example how come we have a pie and then we eat it and its gone. There's no such a thing as time in space, but our not such a great mind cant get around it.

Personally i do believe in parallel universes/spaces and i don't think that there actually is any past or future. we always live in 1 moment which is now, present.

and what about a time machine? if it was ever invented we'd know it by now. I mean somebody must have already come back and said 'hi, im the future'. Somebody not from the mental hospice :)

What i think may happen on the 21st December 2012 is that everyone will get paranoid and crazy.. churches will be full! y im saying this? well in case u haven't noticed lately a lot of natural disasters are prevalent now and things will get worst! where the end of mankind is concerned Nostradamus hasn't the power to predict that..Y? because he was a mere man himself not knowing when he himself would end. :)

I highly doubt anything will actually happen - look at all the other purported 'doomsday's' we've alone lived through - Y2k and such.

Though I'll admit, you're theories did have me grinning a bit when I got to the planetary alignment bit. (I've watched The Fifth Element far, far too often. ^_^)

There is absolutely no rational reason to expect that anything unusual will happen in 2012. All such hypotheses are therefore irrational.

Let me answer the first question for that guy,

they could be. Their bodies were never found. Odd right? We all have our own beliefs. We're never all gonna agree on something. I guess we'll just have to wait and find out.

That date is suppose to have a galactic alignment, not a planetary one. What will happen? Nuttin. :)
