Muslim goal to convert the whole world.?

One argument against Islam I have been hearing lately is fear that Muslims won't be happy until they have converted the whole world. That that is their secret goal. Am I wrong in saying that that is also Christians goal? Aren't Christians told in the gospels to teach and baptize all nations? On this question/aspect are Muslims and Christians different?

There is no support for it in the Quraan. If it's a secret goal, no one filled me in and I've been Muslim for over a decade.

I suspect they're taking that form some hadith stories (written 250 years after the death of Muhammad) that suggest Jesus will return to earth alive, wipe out all his enemies and rule the world in Islam until the end of his days. A sign of the Hour.

From the Quraan, which Muhammad taught and lived by:

2:256 There is no compulsion in way of life....

2:272 Not upon you is their guidance, but God guides whom He wills....

3:128 Not for you is the decision whether He should forgive them or punish them...

10:99 And had your Lord willed, those on earth would have accepted faith - all of them entirely. Then, would you compel the people in order that they become faithful?

3:134... and who restrain anger and who pardon the people - and God loves the doers of good

7:199 Keep to forgiveness and enjoin kindness, and turn away from the ignorant.

15:85... so overlook their faults with gracious forgiveness.

73:10 And bear with patience what they utter, and part from them with a fair leaving

3:159 It is part of the Mercy of God that you deal gently with them; were you severe or harsh-hearted, they would have broken away from about you, so pardon and ask for forgiveness for them and consult them in affairs. Then, when you have taken a decision, put your trust in God. For God loves those who put their trust.

God has commanded us to spread the word of islam to the world, not convert it. Just because I tell you about Islam does not necessarily mean that you will accept Islam as your religion. I am merely obligated as a Muslim to teach you about my religion. What you do with that information is entirely up to you. Regarding Shariah law, it is NOT applicable on non-Muslims (despite what you see in countries like Saudi Arabia). Shariah law is only applicable on Muslims. In the early days of Islam, non-Muslims enjoyed their rights and freedoms. They had the freedom to practice their religions freely and openly. The laws of Islam were not imposed on them. Today, even Muslims are ignorant about this, and think that Shariah law must be imposed on all people living in a land (again, I point out Saudi Arabia as a country NOT doing what they should be doing Islamically).

There's no Muslim goal to convert the whole world since that would contradict Muhammad's end times prophecies.

And there lies the issue between Christian and Muslims. Christians don't want Muslims in their turf. Although Islam doesn't actively seek converts, christian nonetheless see them as a threat.

You are not wrong. God commanded Christians to spread the Gospel so that everyone would have a chance to hear it.

The contrast is that Islam's goal is to murder people if they refuse to convert, so yes, there is a huge difference.

I realize there are a lot of accusations against forced conversions by Christians centuries ago, but I strongly believe that is *not* what God would have us do. Everyone deserves the right to choose for themselves.

If someone is forced into any conversion, it is worthless. The desire to convert has to exist first.

    To WHAT?

Anyone who refuses will be killed....what does that say about the religion?

Would a God that preaches love allow this?

(Matthew 22:39) The second, like it, is this, ‘You must love your neighbor as yourself.’

(John 13:35) By this all will know that YOU are my disciples, if YOU have love among yourselves.”

(James 2:8) If, now, YOU practice carrying out the kingly law according to the scripture: “You must love your neighbor as yourself,” YOU are doing quite well.

(Galatians 5:14) For the entire Law stands fulfilled in one saying, namely: “You must love your neighbor as yourself.”

So how can a religion that ignores the common thread of affrection, by killing non conformers...BE RIGHT...It cannot.

Islam does not call for active conversion. Have you ever heard of an Islamic missionary?

Although they did a good job persevering.

That's the goal of most religions.

If any religion has an inkling to try a mass conversion by force, I say to them, "Bring it."
