Are you a "tinfoil hatter", quite mad, if you think 2 drunks don't make all crop circles?

The two blokes who "pinted up" and demonstrated how they spent several hours of several nights making intricate crop circles? Most of us don't think they are "microwave capable" or in sufficient numbers, assuming they had the time, transportation, organization, stick-to-it-iveness to make a simple crop circle much less the "fabulous fantastic" ones. What about the flying lights filmed while the things were creating a crop circle?

There's an old saying "when you hear hoof-beats, think horses, not zebras."

    Tinfoil hatters think unicorns!

In other words, they just naturally gravitate to the answer with least amount of logic or evidence, as their *FIRST CHOICE* for an explanation.

(P.S. I have to include Creationism in that category too ... but that's another battlefront.)

Let me be clear, the tinfoil hatters *may be right* ... there may indeed be aliens who have traveled light-years or crossed dimensions only to make cryptic diagrams in our wheat fields, while trying with limited success to avoid being seen.

The problem is that THEY ARE SO QUICK TO JUMP TO THE MOST FAR-OUT CONCLUSION! They do not seek first-and-foremost to find a rational answer. And even when a couple of drunks show how easy it is to make intricate diagrams armed with nothing but some planks, rope, and a couple of six-packs ... there is STILL the insistence that such an explanation cannot explain ALL crop-circles.

That *insistence* that the alien-wheat-artists represent the *default* explanation that the rationalists must "disprove" is what makes someone a "tinfoil hatter."

It does not make you "mad" ... it makes you *gullible* ... just a bit too willing to believe the most improbable, illogical explanation as explanation that needs to be "disproved."

Crop circles come about because if harvestable wheat gets flattened , it can no longer get back upright as modern wheat is much heavier than the original variety [ diploid vs octoploid] .

Thus anything that flattens wheat [ drunken guys, aliens etc ] stays flat .

However , they are usually circular in shape. If you have ever watched a quiet stretch of water with a very gentle breeze , you will have seen small gusts of wind appearing on the water and spiralling inwards [ usually only lasting for 1-2 seconds] . Larger things like that are called tornadoes [ and last longer ] . Some of The ones inbetween can flatten wheat ..........

You also find more circles when its damp for obvious reasons ....

    who said anything about ALIENS????

yet THAT is how the main skeptics of your question answered. I'll bet they didn't even see THIS link: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1027178/Ea...

can you imagine the COMPLEXITY involved in this??? Yet the skeptics can ONLY COUNT UP TO TWO!!!

VIZ., crop circles are either created by hoaxers...or they are created by space aliens...I don't BELIEVE in space aliens, ergo, they MUST have been created by hoaxers..

except genuine crop circles, the ones that were not created by humans were created by SOMETHING ELSE. What that something is, we refuse to consider. Much like the cells in our body refuse to consider the possibility of OUR existence as a living, conscious entity...

It is far easier for me to believe that crop circles are hoaxes especially when people admit to them. It is a much bigger stretch of the imagination that they were caused by flying saucer pilots when there is no physical evidence for any aliens, and there is no discernible reason for them to make crop circles even if they did exist.
