And alberto del rio doesn't? Most of you don't know but alberto del rio used to wear a mask when he wrestled in mexico, and the mexican tradition is that once you lose your mask you never get to wear it again, rey mysterio lost his mask way back in wcw, alberto del rio never lost his mask but wwe made him take it off. Even when alberto del rio was in mma he still wore his mask (with bigger holes for his eyes) but once he entered wwe he had to wrestle without it.

Alberto may not get the gimmick he wants but he has it pretty good for a debuting wrestler.  I think Vince thinks hes good looking and shouldnt wear a mask.  No new wrestler really gets to choose their own gimmick since they have pull in the company.  Rey is such a big star that he would sooner leave the WWE than unmask and Vince wouldn't want to lose him.

rey mysterio needs to wear the mask because if he didn't nobody would take him seriously at all- have you seen him unmasked? people would be tuning in and wondering why is a 12 year old wrestling with these guys. Plus, Alberto Del Rio looks like Russell Peters so it's good publicity for him.

why would it be unfair? it is part of his trademark. i would suspect that alberto chose not to wear the mask anymore. as far as rey losing his in wcw, i saw that match and the rest of the time he was in wcw he wrestled without it. i would suspect that wwe wanted him in the mask because of the luche libra connection to the mask wearing mexican wrestlers. since none of us in the audience know what the conditions and terms of the agreements are and were regarding the masks then why worry about it? just sit back and enjoy the shows. why worry about the little things?

Rey is indulging in the Mexican tradition of wearing a Luchadore mask. His father and Eddie Guerro did as well, back in the day. He wanted to bring his culture into a market that hadn't really experienced that much: the WWE. But if you see him with his mask off, he still looks fly.

i think for mysterio, he may have an agreement or pay. maybe rey trade marked it so he can be the only one in  wwe
