Filing a petition for divorce in the UK?
Is a friend or relative able to take my divorce petition to the court to file on my behalf? My work hours mean that it is going to be really difficult for me to get to the court during their opening hours, and I really want to file the petition as soon as possible.
I'm not using a solicitor, we don't have children or any joint financial arrangements so I didn't feel that it was necessary.

Hello
I recently filed a petition for divorce in the UK and work long hours, very busy as well as a single mum with a toddler, and I do volunteering. I discovered that you don't have to go to court to file a petition, it can be done online, I have hired online solicitors called THE LAW PRACTICE LTD. and they are handling my divorce (very cheap!!) compared to other lawyers. Just google them, they are based in Wales (I live in England) and they told me that when you file for divorce, most of the stuff can be done online. I too, want to divorce as soon as possible, but just remember that the length of time it takes all depends on how cooperative your spouse is. With THE LAW PRACTICE, I have only had to run small errands like a few phone call to them, reading the petition to approve what they wrote and reply with my approval, when it gets into the judge's hands he grant the divorce really quick, especially if it's for a good reason like domestic violence (which my reason is).

You dont have to go to court in UK, your solicitor does all that for you. You will have to find time to get to the solicitors from time to time for signing forms etc., surely your employer will understand this, When I was divorcing my ex I think I had to go 3 times, once at the beginning to file the papers and then in the middle for something or other and then at the final bit before the nisi is granted. After that I had to apply to the court for my decree absolute after 6 weeks but never once did I set foot in court.
Yes I have children too.
