In an electrified railway tunnel, would water be a safe fire extinguisher?

I assume yes, because outdoors these systems are safe in rainy conditions. How would one determine the water delivery rate required (formula please).

NO water is not a good extinguisher!

Fires in an electric rail tunnel are mostly likely to be electric fires (of class C). Dry powders are the preferred extinguishers.

A typical dry chemical extinguisher containing 5 lbs. of ammonium phosphate dry chemical.

Electric Fires are usually caused to incidents like short circuits! Rain water doesnt act like a fire extinguisher. Refer wiki for further detials if required !

Water would be unsafe to use in an electrified tunnel. It may cause short circuit in the electric trains. It would be safwer to use Dry chemical type fire ectinguishers.
