Good point.
The Iman heading this mosque is a Bush pal who has been interviewed on Fox. http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_upshot/20100818/pl_y...
The owner is Fox's biggest investor (and close friend of Rupert Murdoch), Muslim Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal.

This whole manufactured controversy is just another Republican publicity stunt to scare up votes among their least educated, most fearful, and most racist voters. They could care less that they're fostering religious persecution, or even if people get hurt or killed as a result.
The US has spent millions trying to improve our image with the Muslim world. All wiped out in one week by the Republicans.

Ground Zero is also in the middle of Lower Manhattan. It is full of shops and businesses that were there long before the towers fell. There is not reason nor any right for the local government to move them. The less reputable establishments will probably be forced out anyway by community pressure or economics once the memorials and museums are built. Those businesses also have no connection to the cowardly terrorists who murdered 3,000 people that day. Comparative hypocrisy FAIL!
