I need help choosing a laptop?
I am looking to purchase a new laptop for the spring semester of school. I cant afford an apple, so Im browsing the PC's. Basically i'll be needing the laptop to do homework, so i will need microsoft office, and a decent amount of memory since ill also have my music, photos and other media on it. Plus I need a good warranty and customer service for any issues that may arise. My budget is $700... Any suggestions?

If Microsoft Office is part of your budget then you'll want to look for a ~ $600 dollar laptop. Your school should be able to offer you Office at a discounted price. Most laptops come with a 1 year warranty, but customer service quality will be a crapshoot whichever laptop you go with.
If you don't mind buying online then look at Newegg or Amazon. You'll have a lot to choose from. With regards to components choose Intel Core i3 or i5 processors, and even AMD Turion II or Phenom II processors if you don't mind lesser battery life. A good target for memory is 4GB and hard drive capacity will depend on how much music/photos/videos you'll put on it.
As far as specific laptop models, try to avoid HP's Compaq Presario or G series. I know for sure their quality isn't all that good.

i got my mom a really nice acer at walmart for just over 500 and it has a 17 inch screen with a good amount of hdd space. and 3 gigs of memory. just go to walmart.com and look for it.,.. i am the one the picked it out for her when she was looking for one.. she came to me with what she could afford and what she would need and would be doing with it.. since she was only on a 500ish budget this was a great find/buy. i have personally used this laptop a lot and i love it. if i could get one for myself i would and would use it all the time

Well, if you can't get a mac, don't get a laptop.
Have fun getting rid of viruses with your PC :)
