If two detonations took place next to eachother simultaneously, would the two waves nullify eachother?
If for instance, you placed 2 kilos 15 yards away from 2 kilos of HMX, RDX, (same velocities, etc.) What would be the result of the two blast waves encountering each other be? thanks! : )

they will marginally interfere along one axis and combine along the orthagonal axis to make the shock wave somewhat directional.

They would not cancel each other out. Think about it when music and sound. Although they may be the same on loudness and intensity, the music will not cancel each other out. Even though they have the same substance and the same frequency. An explosion is a wave of force through the air just as sound is waves through the air.

The shocks wouldn't cancel. But, if the sound waves were of the same frequency, amplitude, and 180-degrees out of phase, then they would cancel.
