I have an open bottle of Merlot from over 3 months ago. Can I use it to cook with?

I know that drinking it is not a good idea but is it too old to cook with?

Update:

It still smells ok.

The worst that can possibly happen to your wine is that if airborne bacteria have got in they cause a secondary fermentation that changes the alcohol into vinegar, that's how wine vinegar is made.

It would do you no harm whatsoever tasting a teaspoonful as I said the worst that could happen is that it would taste like vinegar, if it does, throw it away, don't even cook with it, if it tastes ok, it will be perfectly ok to drink it or cook with it.

Yes, you can use it to cook. If it has turned to vinegar, use it as red wine vinegar.
