Bright red carpet, orange futon... yellow dresser?

Hi! I'm purchasing a white, antique-y looking dresser from craigslist and am having a hard time choosing what color to paint it, and thus I would love some color suggestions :)

So far I've thought of bright yellow, purple and blue. Any other suggestions would be awesome. (My walls are white and I have yet to purchase a comforter.. pretty much the dresser is the only furniture in my room).

Thanks!!

Update:

I'm thinking mint now! Thanks guys!! let me know :)

If the dresser is "antique-y" as in old like Victorian, I would go with a more muted yellow....like a pale, pale yellow, muted, very pale purple or even light blue.

On the other hand is the dress is Modern with a 50's or 60's Vibe, then, I think, bright yellow would be fine.

    Hope it turns out well.

Of the three colors you mentioned, yellow is the best choice, though quite bold. It keeps your color scheme warm, and on the same side of the color wheel. A complementary or near complementary color scheme (what you would have with the blue or purple) is much harder to pull off, especially in a room where you only have a couple of things. Another alternative would be to choose another color of orange, somewhere between the carpet and the futon. That would give the room a more unified feeling.

    Good luck.
