Question about getting off a bus?

I'll keep this simple: I want to get on a bus and get off at (or near) a certain place. Generally, will busdrivers allow you to get off at any stop sign or stop light, or are you forced to wait until the next 'official' stop to get off?

Depends on the city and the route, but more and more, buses are only allowed to board and discharge passengers at designated bus stops. It's a liability thing for the bus companies.

  • Generally, you have to wait until you get to an actual stop, but if the bus isn't very busy, there's no harm in asking the driver for a favour. I know that where I live, the drivers are required to let women off wherever they want after 9pm, and most drivers will allow children to get off anywhere along the route, as long as it's safe.

well in some cities after a certain time like 9pm drivers can let you off at most any corner

if safe to do this is the case for los angeles.

no in TOronto Canada they have a way if you need to get off between stops you try to tell the driver in advance.
