Isn't it kind of silly that there are actually International Rules for WAR?

    Silly? Not really. When two militarys fight, there is no need to bomb large civilian populations. There is also no need for torture.

    Thats about the only two rules of war. Minimize civilian casualties and no torture. The rest is fair game.

    so are you of the opinion that during war you should have a blank check to do anything, no matter how perverse, barbaric or heinous? Carving up civilian prisoners in the name of research, torturing people to death for your own amusement and exterminating entire races would be perfectly okay? so do you believe that the Nazis were unjustly charged, tried and punished because it was "war"?

    Yes and no. If countries follow it soldiers or civilians who are taken prisoner are treating with at least a minimum level of respect.
