Is there a certain leather color for show halters that is "in" right now?

I do the showing side of horse shows for something different every once in a while than just speed events for my horse. I feel it is good for their minds to do a variety of things.

Anyway, I spotted this show halter and the leather is quite dark. I know that I read a while ago that light show halters were out (at least I think anyway) so I was just wondering if the shade of the leather matters based on what color horse you have or if it is just on the current trend?

If it does matter, my horse is a chestnut.

Here is the halter. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item...

Thanks!

Light oil for show halters are NOT "in" in the AQHA and APHA circuit, despite the fact that the light oil saddles are. The dark brown halters are what's "in"- it doesn't matter what color your horse is.

That halter looks pretty good for open shows and 4-h and whatnot, but if you were to do the APHA breed shows, you would want one without the stars.

  • Typically the lighter oils are more in style, but on the right color horse and oil is fine. I think it would be just fine.

i don't know anything about showing, but that halter is really nice, i think it would look great on a chestnut, nice contrast, good luck in your show!
