Morals come from genetics and behaviors worked out by God (Mother Nature) as appropriate for our species, and are built-in if we trust God. (Or LadyLord, which I prefer).

No more than slavery was acceptable in biblical times. Early humans had to fight for survival so their morals were very different from today's when food and resources are easier to get.

We can not judge early human by our standards today. Today it is utterly immoral to do so. Back then morals meant survival. Also many early humans would not have beaten mates over the head for no reason.

At the time it was probably moral, it depends what their society thought at the time. In our modern way of thinking of course it isn't moral.
