Use old hard drive in new computer?
I wanted to use my old hard drive in my new computer. I think my old computers motherboard got fried not really sure.
This is how it started i was on the computer and i get the bsod(blue screen of death) so i turned off the computer and turned it back on and keep getting bsod. So then i tried using the acer recovery disk that came with my computer and i got to the reformatting part it said complete and it restarted then a windows installation screen came up and bsod again, restarted bsod everytime so i took it to best buy and they said my motherboard was fried i just wanted to make sure.
So cud the fried motherboard take out the hard drive and if the hard drive is faulty and i install it in my new computer cud it mess up somthing else.
i want to use old hard drive and the new hard drive in my new computer together not just use the old one

Definitely sounds like a motherboard problem with the BSOD. I would recommend you back up your files first. You may be asking, "If I can't even start it up, how can I back it up?". This is a device that allows you to do so:

You connect the old hard drive to this device, and then the device to a another computer or laptop via USB. You would then be able to access all the files on it.
I got the device off a PC World Magazine Article.
Best of luck!

Remove the hard drive from your old machine and insert it in an expansion slot of your new system. The new box will recognize your old drive as a 'slave' giving you access to it as the G or H drive so you can remove any important files. Once you have the data you want then you can remove the old drive so it doesn't overwork the power supply in your new unit.
