shoe repairs what can you do ?
my special shoes from the podiatrist wore to the point where a shoe repairer advised he couldn't help me as I needed to take them to a special place for rebuilding....if they were worth it so it sounded pricey however I used shoe glue (the stuff you paint on each surface and wait 15 min to dry before pressing together) and cut out bits from my old bike tyres and it worked my shoes are again comfy !

Go to a medical supply store. There is usually at least one in every large city... the ones that supply stuff to the prosthetic departments in big hospitals. You could ask a hospital central supply where they buy their supplies and track them down that way. They will likely be able to sell you a new pair of what you had. Also, taking a shot in the dark on this look at:

But as to the old one.... if a shoe repair guy can't do it then they are basically at the end of their service life.
Hope that helps.Best wishes and good luck.

Good job! I know those shoes cost a lot. When I was growing up, I had moccasins which the soles kept falling off. I sewed them back with a needle and thread. We just did not have the money for a new pair every time one pair would wear out. I should have gotten a better pair to begin with that would have lasted longer, but I loved those moccasins.

Well done! When I was very young and poor I'd cut out cardboard to cover the hole in the bottom of my shoe to keep the snow out in Colorado. I also used to have a pair of white sandals that I just loved, the bottom lifted so I super-glued it back down. I do the same with the kids shoes when their Velcro tears away from the flap, I glue it back down.

Wow, that's a great idea for those of us who are not able to find a shoe repair shop that has a person with the experience to actually FIX your shoes!
I've used Gorilla Glue to put my favorite slippers back together & it worked great.
Sounds like you used good old fashioned "contact cement"! It's a great fixer-upper that bonds instantly.
No one is going to know unless they inspect your shoes.
Bravo!

Very innovative.I have used gel pads to extend the life of my Nikes.I'm glad to see some people find a comfortable piece of clothing then repair rather than toss out.

Well done! your resourcefulness paid off.
I used to nail metal bits under the sole to make them clatter, much to everyone's annoyance.

Can't see it `lasting' if you will pardon the pun.
