Why is killing an fetus much worse than killing innocent babies or children as "collateral damage" in war?

This is directed to those who oppose abortion but don't oppose war.

Update:

Intentional or unintentional, it's going to happen when a bomb in dropped in a civilian area--and that's already known ahead of time.

This is the US. Is there anyone who doesn't know how to prevent a pregnancy? There should be no need to abort a fetus EXCEPT in cases of rape, incest, or the health of the mother.

Now about the collateral damage. There will be people killed in war. And some of them will be civilians. If you think there won't be you are an idiot. It's war. War is chaos.

Now there are two sides involved both in Afghanistan and Iraq. One side claims to be doing Allah's will and fighting the infidels. This group has absolutely no problem setting bombs to go off where civilians are congregated. The more civilians killed the better. They could care less about collateral damage.

There's another side who wants to put people like that out of business. And in the process they realize there will be some civilians killed and more often than not they won't even fire into an area where a large number of civilians are. They do care about civilians deaths and want to minimize those deaths to the greatest extent possible. Note I said minimize and possible. Mistakes will be made. And innocent people will die.

Now the second group of people I mentioned do not want war. I know I was a member of that group for a very long time. But they will wage war if they are told to by duly elected leaders of their country.

And they will do it well.

If the people who are aborting fetuses took the same care preventing pregnancies US soldiers do trying not to kill civilians there wouldn't be an abortion question.

You don't want innocent babies killed in war? Please go to the middle east and talk to the people who have killed the most civilians and get them to change their ways and my government will bring ALL our soldiers home.

I don't want a fetus aborted. So tell your boyfriend to keep his penis in his pants until he's ready to support you and raise a child.

    Have a FAANNNNtastic day!*G*

  • Ohh hahah Aqua Buda you maka me raugf long time....bery funny. Aqua Budason.. at least one has a purpose an end result to prevent further death...Abortion just allows people to continue to be irresponsible once again the quick fix...this is not to say war is good its hell it should be a last resort not unlike abortion....kill em with logic...

Hey Audry. it is not a potential life it is alive and growing..if its a potetial life in the womb then it is still only a potential life outside the womb, since the child has not lived its full life and is subject to death at any point...another lib killed with logic

Hey Audry, if the bomb is all our fault will it therefore be societies fault, since we are the Gov and put the law in place to allow the abortion and millions of people die, because this baby may have possibly could have grown up to cure dieseases that at this time there is no cure from...logic, but i guess we will never know that LIFE'S future

Collateral damage is an inevitable part of a horrible thing called war. It is not the result of laziness by someone who couldn't take a minute and find some birth control. Usually war has some purpose, either to defend one's country or some other goal that is worthy of such carnage, abortion is the intentional slaughter of an unborn baby because the parents were irresponsible. Also, the people involved in war weren't the ones to start it, unlike an abortion.

  • because 99% of the time a woman gets pregnant, it can be prevented by keeping her legs closed. i am anti-abortion, unless there are extreme circumstances like rape or if the baby will die anyway and cause the mother to die if she continues to carry it. most of the abortions that are performed are for teenage girls that thought they were mature enough to have sex, but when it comes to handling the responsibilities of that, they think, i'm too young. i support the war and our boys and girls overseas. yes, it is sad when a child is killed when a bomb is dropped, but then again, sometimes sacrifices must be made to rid ourselves of the enemy. that may be a harsh stance, but it is one i am unashamed of. we didn't bring this war on ourselves. also, when they portray the war in iraq, the media which is usually liberally biased, wants you to see the children and then turn you against the soldiers. their idea is that the us army is the big bad guy, but in reality, it's the people that put their children in that position. don't be fooled into thinking this, because contrary to what they want you to believe, american soldiers don't murder innocent civilians as a past time. war is bloody, and there will be civilian casualties. just like when the terrorists ran those planes into the towers, how many civilians died? and we did nothing to provoke them did we. that aside children can be killed intentionally, but not for no reason. just like in somalia when the helicopters were shot down, in iraq, the enemy raises their children to hate americans. they teach them that if you make a suicide run and take out americans with them that they will go to heaven and have 72 virgins waiting for them. they even have cartoons that teach this. if someone's father puts a bomb on them and they walk towards you, what would you do? would you kill him to ensure the safety of you and your friends, or would you allow not only yourself but your whole team to be blown to pieces? you must be aware that your choice to kill or not to kill this child, which is now a threat, doesn't just affect your well-being, also your teams. this is what the media doesn't want you to know. these types of children are a threat. sad as it may be, they have to be taken care of, because if they weren't, more of our soldiers would be dead. but don't pin that on the soldiers, blame the iraqi parents that send their own children out. so to me it is worse to kill a fetus than the children in iraq, because the fetus is very rarely going to take your life unless there are major complications, and it is there from a choice the woman made. in iraq, it's about the choices the children and their parents make, and when it's civilian casualties, you must understand, that war isn't nice, it isn't fair. you do what has to be done for the good of the country.

I think abortion is fine. If the fetus cannot survive on its own, it is not a human being. Dropping a bomb in a civilian area is the intentional killing of people who are trying to survive and live their lives.

Source(s): @Phoenix: How is collateral damage not premeditated? Because children are not the target? A living human's life is a life no matter how you look at it. Just because children arent the target doesnt mean it wasnt premeditated.
  • Still havin' trouble with gross simplicities like intentional & unintentional, I see. But, then, if you weren't, you'd have to tell yourself the ugly truth about abortion, wouldn't you. Keep your head in the sand. You'll FEEL better.

Monica puts it simply enough that even your crowd really ought to be capable of getting it.

Abortions aren't always intentional acts. Some early abortions are committed because of rape or ectopic pregnancies.

    I personally oppose both.

When a mother has an abortion, the only people involved in ending a potential life are the mother and her doctor. The people control the government; so when our country drops a bomb on children, we are all responsible.

In the time span of the Iraq War, more abortions have been carried out than all the deaths of soldiers.

Two wrongs dont make a right. The military doesnt knowingly kill civilians, thats BS, if you read our rules of engagement we actually have to be shot at first before we can shoot back.
