so I'm taking accounting right now in high school and were balancing accounts.
sooo.... why are debits called debits and why are credits called credits. I know what they are but why are they called that??

when using T-accounts, the terms 'debit' and 'credit' are just meant to denote left and right... debits are made to the left side of the T, credits to the right side
