What is the REAL difference between what the media cares about, and our OWN concerns?

DAMN RIGHT !!! always telling us who is mixed with this or that , who like this or that ethnicity...

No I don't care at all... As one who is studying communications at this time, it has become even easier to write the media off.

The media concept is a business concept, and they're in it to make money. Decades ago, there was some nobility to it, but now it's not so true all the time. As time moved on, and more got into the profession, media competition became desperation to find a money making niche, and that's what they concern themselves with now.

That is why it's mostly garbage now.

Yes, I understand. There are better things we ought to be spending our time doing or learning about.

I used to love tabloids as a teen but now realized they are a waste of money. My guilty garbage reading is now about 10 minutes of UK's Mail Online. So have mostly broken my media wh*re ways, I'm trying. My husband DOES give me crap for reading that site... he's someone you would like, all brains, world news, books and doesn't have a clue who any celeb are besides some musicians.

The mass media's job is to distract people from what's happening in the world with superficial crap. So, if the wealthy sectors want to, say, destroy Social Security, you're too busy shopping to care. It's a pervasive and malicious part of our business-run, consumerist society, but it's very easy to see through once you recognize it for what it is.

Media cares about sensationalistic events because it sells more advertising.

Real people care about more pressing issues.

Am I going to be able to hold onto my job?

Can I keep the house, or will I have to allow foreclosure?

Can I feed my family; now, and well into the future?

Who's that creep that's dating my daughter?

Is she pregnant?

and so on

Of course, this is just my opinion; I could be wrong.

They put in the news anything they think will get them higher ratings thus more money. They exaggerate and blow things out of proportion. Whatever sells is what they do.
