What's happening to my rubber pant?

We've had this plant for a couple of months. It was doing REALLY well when we first bought it. The nursery we purchased it from said we wouldn't need to re-pot it for another year, since they had just done it.

Well, recently the leaves started turning brown, drying off and then falling.

Please see pictures:

We read online to water it twice a week and that's what we've been doing. My mom stayed with us for a little over a week a while back and I'm thinking she may have over watered it.

Is there anything we can do to save it?

Thank you

I can't open the links above, however, there is a good likelihood that the plant is being over-watered. The first thing I would do is move the plant outside. A rubber plant can take direct sunlight relatively well, but placing it in front of a window where it can get light will help also (if it's not there already).

It's difficult sometimes to tell how much water is in the bottom of a planter/pot. If the top soil is still damp when you are watering a second time, you may want to avoid that watering. Hopefully there's a way for some of the water to drain when necessary so that the roots aren't soaking in water and possibly rotting.

    I hope that helps some.

Take the plant outside and let it drop all of its leaves off that it wants too, then bring it back indoors and water once a week until it starts to grow again
