A 22 year old pregnant mother died 2 weeks ago who is at fault?

okay so a 22 year old named Miko Furrow from Davis California died 2 weeks ago, she was a student with a bight future, but she didn't believe in modern medicine or "western butchers" as she called them she wanted an abortion, she was just a few weeks pregnant. She turned to Penny-Royal tea, she died. Evidently she also had a bacterial infection that caused other problems, she would have known this if she went to a regular doctor. This infection caused her to have complications and she died.

My friend thinks the company that sold her the tea should be at fault, my husband thinks it's the company that produced the book that had the recipe. I say that Miko Furrow is the one at fault, she made the choice to abort, and she took it upon herself to not see a doctor...

what do you think?

I don't think anyone is at fault, not even Miko. I think Miko had convection that were questionable. I read about this in the news paper and this was her 4th abortion she had used the recipe 3 times before and had 1 conventional abortion, that left her in pain and further questioning modern medicine. I think she needed Jesus, honestly she had 4, FOUR abortions before this one and she also had gonorrhea which was the cause of the complications. I think she needed to have her legs sown shut honestly.

At the end of the day, it's your decision and all people can do is offer their opinion and experience in this situation. Personally, I wouldn't abort as I don't see Down's syndrome as a severe enough disability to justify it. In another two weeks, your baby is viable and stands a good chance of survival outside of the womb. Several babies have survived in neonatal intensive care units from 22 weeks gestation onwards. Whilst there are some health complications sometimes associated with the syndrome, a lot of Downs children live extremely happy lives. I've known several in my life and I can honestly say that they were a lot happier than most of the unaffected children I know. They are also very loving. My mum knows a Downs lady in her late twenties who is actually an actress and has her own home. I would suggest you talk to a counsellor before doing anything drastic as they are impartial and can offer some really good advice. In addition to this, you could go and see your doctor and find out what caring for a child with Downs actually involves. At the end of the day, this is still your baby. Abortion is not something to be taken lightly and can cause you permanent psychological damage. If you decide to continue with your pregnancy, whether it is difficult or not, you will adjust to having a child who needs a little extra care. I hope you manage to reach a decision that you are happy with and wish you all the best for the future.

The book was relaying information. Interpreting that information is the responsibility of the reader. To blame the book is akin to blaming Better Homes and Gardens if your dinner guest keels over after you serve them veal marsala that you made with undercooked veal.

The tea company sold a product to a consumer, and is not responsible unless they had reason to believe that their product was toxic if used the way it was intended. Assuming that the majority of people who drink their product are alive and well, they are off the hook.

The woman in question made her own choice without being forced by anyone else. Unfortunately the results were tragic, but there is no criminal liability.

Miko is at fault for not seeing a doctor about wanting an abortion. Attempting abortion on your own is dangerous and can result in death, which in this case.. it did.

The mother herself was at fault.

You cannot blame the makers of books or teas for providing information or a product.

In the end only the mother had control over her own situation and if she was that set on home abortion regardless of the book or the tea she would have found a way.

She chose to read the book.

She chose to go out and buy that tea.

And she chose to end her pregnancy without medical help from a professional.

She was the only one in control of her situation. She had choices to make, and by making those choices she accepted that their may be consequences for them.

    100% Miko Furrow's fault.

When a person refuses conventional medicine its always in their right as long as they are psychologically capable of making informed decisions and if she presented in an er refusing treatment that could be fatal the docs would have called a psych consult determining capacity to make informed decisions. Because that was never done and we don'tt know if she understood the ramifications of her reckless decision its really something that her family should pursue legally if they felt her mental state was not intact What about her family?

  • It is her own fault. She wouldnt have known there was an infection if she would have went to a doctor..

It was her choice not to take advantage of modern medicine

i agree with you , it was her choice to abort it , she wasnt forced to drink the tea, but it was her own actions that caused it. i think it was her fault
