Yes, the Remington 1911R1 is to the same specs with the WWII 1911, with a different sight set (so their easier to see). I have NOT shot one yet, but have watched several Youtube videos, and it seems very nice. If you want, you can search youtube. They have TONS of videos of the R1.

    Also, here's the 1911R1 home page - http://www.1911r1.com/

    Hope this helps!

Remington Arms, the maker of the 1911R1 should not be confused with Remington-Rand, the typewriter company who made 1911A1 pistols during WWII. The magazine design has been around since 1905 easily predating WWII. The new R1 is a close copy of the original 1911, but incorporates the Colt Series 80 safety system, a feature in my opinion could have done without.

My grandpa used to own a Remington 1911, he loved it. You can't really go wrong with any 1911, they are all based on the John Moses Browning design.

My grandpa got a Para Ordinance GI Expert .45 (About $550) recently, and it was shooting like $H!T so he took it apart and noticed the barrel wasn't resetting in the right position because there was excessive metal on the frame of the pistol, so he broke out the dremel and took a little of metal off, and now its shooting 2" groups at 25 yards on a rest.

Sometimes you can buy a $2000 pistol but a minor imperfection could cause it to be inaccurate.

They like a lot of Brands are extremely overpriced, but if you want to spend more $$$ for them go for it.* Knock-offs for $400.00 to $500.00 Dollars that will perform as well as the more expensive Brands for a lot less $$$ for the range and accuracy of the 45acp.* Better yet buy any Good Used One for a Lot Less $$$.* Let the other guy pay the New Price.*
