so will this hold me up?
Im wanting to join the navy, but they do a very thorough check on your credit for security reasons. My credit is shot and I have about 15 grand in back taxes from when I had my own company, will this disqualify me from the navy? and if so will I have a better chance at the Marines?
I dont understand the clearence level thing my self, but it is in an article I read in about.com under military. I was the sole owner and I made a stupid mistake by not putting money away. I can only blame my self but now I cant find work so I want to join the military to help me rid my debt and make a better financial life for both my girlfriend and I. If you can elaborate on why It is an issue, than please do so, I would love to know.

No, you will need to fill out a statement regarding your financial issues but it will not hold you up. if you owe money to the government they will just garnish part of your paycheck to pay it off. security clearances is really not that hard to get in the military as long as you have nothing crazy in your background as far as trustworthiness and integrity.....Also it is no easier to join the Marine corps then the Navy, maybe a little harder as far as physical requirements go.

depends if you need a security clearance or not. my buddy was in way deeper and he is slowly but surely getting rid of his debt. now the navy is actually kicking out people, so that could disqualify you pretty easily. marines will take anyone. but once you go marines, the army will be your only other route. so the choice is yours, seamen? or devil douche?

better chance in the Army - They will take anyone and put you on the front lines! But, if you are in debt from a business that shouldn't be on your personal credit unless you where a sole proprietor in witch case that sucks!
