Is it safe for a tourist to walk down Dickinson street in south Philadelphia?
I want to go to Cosmi's Meat Market on my first trip to Philadelphia. I'm not gonna rent a car and I'm gonna stay in a hotel in center city. I'd have to use public transport and walk down Dickinson street. This would probably happen some time between 11 am and 1 pm. Is that a safe area to visit?
Thanks for the answer. I was planning on taking the bus down there, but walking to the subway afterwards to head to the ballpark.

You COULD walk to Dickenson, but it would be a pretty long walk. You can take the Broad Street subway south and get off at the Tasker/Morris stop. Dickenson is a block south of Tasker. Cosmi's is at 8th street, so only 6 blocks from Broad Street. (6 blocks east.) A good tip to know is that Broad Street IS 14th street... it's just not called by number. If you plan on taking public transportation more than 5 one way trips, then I would suggest the One Day visitor pass. They are 11 bucks and you can get one here.

You can take the bus straight down 8th street from Center City to Dickinson. Dickinson doesn't run through Center City so you wouldn't be walking there unless you're planning on taking the subway. You can take the bus back up 9th and it should be safe during lunch.

Um, ok are you serious? that occurs to me each and all the time. and in specific circumstances i will step too on the fringe of a streetlight and it will start up blinking on and stale. I step away, and it stops. My friends have observed this, and have commented often that this would not take place to them while they are walking outdoors. It haappens plenty, that a number of my friends are somewhat freaked out.
