    2(t+5t)=48

    First use the distributive property: 2t+10t=48

    Add like terms: 12t=48

    Divide both sides by 12:t=4

    Answers is: t=4

    First multiply the 2 by t and 5t which equals 2t+10t=48 then you add the 2t and the 10t together because they are like terms and that will equal 12t=48 so divide 12t into 48 then think what can 12 multiply to equal 48 so them you say 12 goes into 48, 4 times so your answer would be t=4. Then plug the 4 into where t is at to make sure its the right answer so 2((4)+5(4))= 48, so it would be 8+40=48. So 4 is your answer to what t is.

    My guess is that you are solving for the unknown variable t in the above equation.

    The first step would be add the common elements in the parenthesis.

    i.e. 2*(t+5*t) = 48 becomes --> 2*(6*t) = 48

    You can do this step because the variable "t" plus five of the variable "t" ---> = 2*(t+t+t+t+t+t) which is equal to six of those t's or ---> 2*(6*t)

    The next step would be to multiply 2 times the 6 (as a side note, the six is defined as a coefficient, which just denotes the number of t's you currently have).

    This gives you: 12*t = 48

    The next step in this equation is to use an "inverse operation." One rule of thumb is that is you preform a arithmetic operation to both sides of the equation, that equation is still the same as before (just with a different ratio).

    The inverse operation that would be helpful for this situation would be to divide both sides of the equation by 12.

    This would produce a final answer of t = 4.

    Hope this helps!!

    You distribute the 2 to the t and 5t. In this case, you end up with 2t + 10t = 48

    or 12t=48

    then just divide by 12 to get 1t by itself,

    12/12t=48/12

    t=4

    solve the sum inside the bracket first.

    2(6t)=48

    multiply it with the no. outside the bracket

    2*6t=12t=48

    to know the value of t take 12 to the other side.thus * becomes / as we should take the opposite sign when we change sides.

    t=48/12=4

    First distribute the outside term

    2t+10t=48

    then combine like terms

    12t=48

    divide to isolate term

    t=4
