Prescription eyeglass expiration date?
I planned on ordering new glasses and lenses (as my current ones a quite broken) from a website online.
When my prescription was mailed to me by my former optometrist, it included an expiration date (which was in May of this year). What is the purpose of the expiration date? Does this mean that I need to go have my eyes reevaluated and can no longer use this prescription?
When I spoke to the woman who mailed it to me, she didn't mention anything regarding that, so I'd imagine that if that *was* the case, she'd have went ahead and told me the prescription was useless.
Can anyone clear this up for me? I'm a bit confused.

Aside from the fact that your vision can change within a year and you might not notice the change in your vision, the reasoning behind the expiration date is to try to have patients come back for their yearly vision check-up. Just as you would go to a doctor to get a yearly physical or the dentist for your yearly cleaning. Going to the Optometrist is just as important if not more so since we are talking about your eye sight. Small changes in your eyes can be indicators of a more serious condition and as impossible as this may seem, some patients have been known to go partially blind and not even notice. So even though you might feel like the current prescription meets your needs, you will still need the optometrist to check your eye health. I subscribe to the following belief, you have only one pair of eyes. If something goes wrong, the medical community cannot grow or replace your eyes. So its in your best interest to keep your eyes as healthy as possible.

I do not know of any legit on-line save so we can be given an expired prescription. To be legitimate the prescription regularly needs to be not more than a million 12 months historic. So whilst you will be competent to receive a replica of the historic prescription, it would possibly not rather do you any well, as it'll had been dated whilst it used to be written.

You eyeglass prescription is just like any other prescription, it expires after one year. You're supposed to have you eyes checked every year. People are much more likely to do so if they need a new prescription to get new glasses.
